Photo Gallery: Hookers Ball fun

Aug 27, 2024 | A Day in Photos

One of the best things about Hookers Ball is the food. Attendees had everything from fish and chips to lobster bisque. And lots of oysters from ARC shucked by Elwood’s Raw Bars.

The Hookers Ball is the best non-profit fundraiser of the year – officially and unofficially. (The ball took the gold last year in Cape Cod Life’s Reader’s Choice Awards ) The event is the highlight of the summer for many who love eating the delicious, local seafood and seeing friends, but also support the mission of the Fishermen’s Alliance.

The 23rd annual ball, held in the big white tent behind the Harwich Community Center on Aug.2, was one of the most successful yet. The event wouldn’t be possible without volunteers, sponsors and community members who donate to our auction. If you couldn’t make the event this year – and even if you could – look at this gallery of Salty Broad Studios and see who you recognize among the 400 people on hand. Heads for the win! ‘Heads or Tails’ is always one of the hilarious highlights of Hookers Ball.

Steve Gennodie, owner of Rocky Neck Fish and Chatham Pier Fish Market, and his wife, Jodi, participate in one of the big fundraisers of the evening.

Captain Sean Connors jokes around with his sister Rebecca.

Leslie Hartmann, Lori Fanning-Smith, Holly O’Gara and Emmet O’Gara catch up as the evening winds down.

Margaret Dodge, Barbara Matteson, and Paul Parker are all smiles.

Cole and Lauren Sherin have been regulars at the ball for several years.

John Pappalardo, CEO of the Fishermen’s Alliance, said those at Hookers Ball had a lot to celebrate this year, including the growing number of young people getting into the fisheries.

Captain Bradley Lowe was one of three young fishermen celebrated in the annual Hookers Ball video, produced by Big Tree.
