PHOTO GALLERY: Fall events galore

Oct 25, 2022 | A Day in Photos

The Cape is still a small enough place that we get to know a lot of our supporters personally. They also get to know us and the commercial fishermen who steer our organization. Some of our relationships extend back decades, others are more recent, but they all strengthen our community. We are proud of our events that connect the local fishing industry to neighbors and friends and we have had a fall full of them, so wanted to share some photos with you. Hope to see you soon! Meet the Fleet photos by Erin Minns Photography.

Longtime captain Bill Amaru spoke about the younger generation of commercial fishermen and how he was proud of the Cape’s industry.

Captain Kurt Martin tells attendees of Meet the Fleet about the black sea bass and Jonah crab fisheries.

Cam and Tyler Hadfield of The Rail, served up unique conch and Jonah crab recipes at Meet the Fleet.

Not only did Judy Lindahl from Nauset Marine happily host Meet the Fleet she also helped Jennifer Bryant, our director of development, pull the winning raffle ticket.

Many are familiar with our Meet the Fleets in Chatham, but we hold one at Nauset Marine East once a year and our next one is at the Orpheum in Chatham.

Stephanie Sykes was one of several fishermen that came to Meet the Fleet to talk about life on the water.

We are always happy to talk to groups about the importance of commercial fishing on Cape Cod. Outreach Coordinators Ray Kane and Stephanie Sykes teamed up with Craig Poosikian of BHG Enterprises for an event at Chatham Bars Inn.

Our Small Boats. Big Science series has gotten off to a great start with insightful presentations and great public involvement. Jill Thompson- Grim, Ph.D. student at the University of South Florida-College of Marine Science, speaks at our most recent event.

We were excited to be at Oktoberfest in Chatham and talk with dozens of people about commercial fishing. Development Coordinator Brigid Krug also gave out 400 coastal learning books!
