“The time I spent working at the fish pier taught me a great deal about the fishing community here on Cape Cod. Seeing how hard the fishermen work is truly admirable and it is what inspired me to become a part of the Fishermen’s Alliance. I am excited and proud to say that I am working with such a wonderful and passionate organization that helps protect and support the fishing community and livelihood of so many people."
Marjorie “MJ” joined the Fishermen’s Alliance in January 2017. Before that, she spent three years working as the manager of the Chatham Pier Fish Market. MJ’s days at the market afforded her the incredible opportunity of witnessing our local fishing industry from an explicit, hands-on perspective. Not only was she able to meet and interact with many of the local fishermen, MJ was able to observe the labor, dedication and devotion that is required of the commercial fishing industry on a daily basis.
MJ grew up in Maine, lived in Boston for a few years, and then moved to Chatham in the spring of 2013 for the summer. She loved Cape Cod so much that she decided to stick around.
