In the wake of overfishing, inefficient regulations and industrial-scale trawling for herring, small-boat fishermen haven't had it easy over the last decade.
To ensure the boats in the Cape's historic harbors don't disappear like the cod in our waters, the Fishermen's Alliance has worked to stablize the local fleet while also adding economic value to the community.
Formed in 1991 by fishermen for fishermen, the Fishermen's Alliance is the only nonprofit organization of its kind. We build modern fisheries practices to support our fishermen members which include:
- Providing access to exclusive permits to promote new business development
- Advocating to protect our small-boat fishing heritage from offshore fleets
- Partnering with local food pantries to distribute fish
All of our work is guided by the energy, innovation and expertise of Cape Cod fishermen to guarantee future generations will eat local fish.
Make a donation today. Together, we will build a better future for the fish and fishermen of Cape Cod.
